Houghton's collection of Casas Grandes pottery artifacts, Chihuahua, Mexico

E.C. Houghton was the ranch manager at the Corralitos Land and Cattle company hacienda. His wife, Georgia?, was an amature archeologist and excavated several sites in search of artifacts. The Houghtons amassed a collection of pottery that eventually went on to end up in American museuss, including the Arizona State Museum and the Harvard Peabody museum, though attribution is attributed to Houghton and others. It is assumed that E.C. Houghton's status as ranch manager allowed him to smuggle pots out of Mexico more easily. These photographs taken by Hewett are of Mrs. Houghton's collection at the time.
